Here is another homegrown app which was fun to code. It was born out of need and the result exceeded my own expectations. This is an Optical Character Recognition (OCR) text detector, but not like gramma's OCR (!). It's quite fast and smart. With more cool features added too, so it can be generally useful. Give it a try!
Finally, I was able to take a look at this app again. A new version of Abler SC is available. Most significant changes regard a much needed Help section, now integrated. I know this should have been much sooner, sorry for this delay. It currently involves essentials only, but will be extended as necessary. Some online services were gone obsolete, this was also fixed in the new version. I hope to release a major update with another useful Mode soon. Thanks to all interested and especially the ones who never gave up :)
This website is a blog dedicated to all things pixel art, with a lot of information and beautiful artwork to learn and admire. The main reason I post here is the useful tutorials included. For all pixel art enthusiasts and especially beginners, this site can be a good start point. Have a look at the tools section of the blog as well, where (mostly) free tools for pixel art creation are listed.
A website that includes free assets for game developers. Some of these include vector format characters, icons, illustrations, some surprising 2D sets for specific genre and even 3D models. All these assets are free to use in commercial projects, according to their terms and conditions. Last but not the least, the site has very useful tutorials for game art creation.
I haven't posted for a while, in between finishing this one and some unrelated hurdles. Finally though, my new zero budget game Alphabelt is out (yes belt :)). It aims to combine some arcade type action with word puzzle genre. Give it a try, always appreciate your feedbacks.
After a few delays, the new version of Abler Scientific Calculator is released with Graph Mode. All interested, enjoy. :) Feel free to report any possible bugs, from Contact page.
Well, this website is a rather pleasant surprise. It hosts free sound sample collections, mostly made available by game studios. The site is simply organized as collection folders and one can reach the files without hassle. Playback review is also possible. I won't begin to describe the amount of samples, that's the surprise part ;). Let me just say, for any kind of sound you are pretty much covered. It is stated the license files are inside corresponding folder (noting however, some of the folders don't seem to have them).
Flash Kit is in fact a Flash developer resource site. However the Sound Effects section seems particularly appealing. There are hundreds of free sound samples in many categories that can suit game development. The licensing information is in "Read Guidelines" link for each file download page and most of the sound files are freeware.
Below you can find Android related tutorial websites without particular order (yes I am lazy). I will try to update this list as I find similar sites. Some of these sites provide introductions to Android development and some are more focused on useful examples and code snippets.
